A gang of six met on Monday, April 8th at 7 PM at Barriques on Park St. to discuss FOOT affairs and plan for upcoming events. Jim D. generated enthusiasm when he presented the band line-up for our May concert series, and discussion ensued on how to plan and set up for these four events. See later announcement of final band schedule.

County Board Supervisor, Kyle Richmond, joined us to present info on the County's recently-created Alliant Energy Center Strategic Design Study Committee. Tom D. was appointed as neighborhood representative to this committee, which will develop an RFP for hiring a consultant to develop a master plan for the Alliant Energy Center grounds.

Other topics of discussion included:
  • A review of the February 23rd Candlelight Ski event (great success, between 100-150 folks in attendance, weather cooperated).
  • An update on the bluebird house project (9 houses planned for set-up in Conservancy prairie with help of Madison Audubon Society)
  • Review of the successful April 7th volunteer workparty for pre-burn clearance (8 volunteers provided 15 hours of service toward Federal grant for oak savannah restoration)
  • Reminders about upcoming April 27th Earth Day shoreline clean-up at Olin beach, from 10 AM to noon, and May 9th garlic mustard pull from noon to 3 PM, conducted in conjunction with Madison Weed Warriors.
