Land's End Volunteers - Take a Stake in the Lakes

On Friday June 1, FOOT hosted the kick-off event of Take a Stake in the Lakes Days by hosting nearly 200 volunteer staff from Land’s End. After opening ceremonies hosted by Dane County Executive, Joe Parisi, the volunteers disbursed to multiple Madison-area park sites, with around 50 remaining at Olin-Turville to focus on a shoreline clean-up of Lake Monona, an invasive plants pull, and a native plant restoration project. Dozens of bags were filled with refuse and cleared invasive plants, while new native species were planted just inside the entrance to the Turville conservancy park. FOOT thanks these dedicated volunteers for their time and effort, and Land's End for its strong commitment to community service and the environment.
